Rishabh Pant’s sensational 89 runs in the fourth Test against Australia in Brisbane helped India win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In addition, he played a tremendous innings of 97 runs in the Sydney Test. He became the top ranked wicketkeeper-batsman and has been promoted to 13th position in the ICC Test rankings after a stellar performance in the Australia series.
He is also the top wicket-keeper-batsman. South Africa's Quinton De Kock is in 15th place. Like Pant, England captain Joe Root has improved in the rankings. Where the Pant-Roots have improved, there has been a decline in Virat Kohli-Babar Azam ranking.

Although, Virat was in the top two during the Adelaide Tests, the cricketer has dropped to the top four due to absence in the other three Tests. Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Babar lost his place in the top five. Marnus Labuschagne replaced Virat in the current ICC ranking.
In addition, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Dom Bess, Jack Leach, Johnny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Lahiru Thirimanne and Josh Hazelwood have improved in the rankings.
