Jon Lewis has already arrived in Bangladesh and is ready to take charge as the batting coach of Tigers. The English coach reached Dhaka on Thursday (7th January) at 10:30 am. He, who will undergo the quarantine in Dhaka, will be in charge of the series against the West Indies.

Meanwhile, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal are eagerly looking forward to learning from him from the Day 1 of practice as the Tigers have been without a batting coach for a long time in Bangladesh. However, there's an uncertainty over his availability before the first ODI (January 20) due to quarantine complications.

On the other hand, other foreign coaches can only be able to join the team if their reports come negative. However, Lewis has to undergo the COVID Test when he arrives in Dhaka as he is travelling from England. Later, he will have to undergo a 14-day compulsory quarantine period and wouldn't be allowed to join the team before 14 days, as per the rules of the Department of Health of the Bangladesh government.

However they have reportedly sought for help with BCB Nazmul Hasan Papon in the hope of getting permission to have him. Notably, in last August, Neil Mckenzie had stepped down as Tiger’s batting coach due to family problems. After his departure, former New Zealand Batsman Craig McMillan was appointed by BCB as the batting consultant for a three-match Test Series against the Sri Lankan Cricket Team.

Although he left the job before he took the responsibility, the former Batting Coach of Kiwi didn’t come to Bangladesh showing the reason for his father’s demise. Since then, Bangladesh has been playing without a Batting Coach. However, this time BCB has filled this absence by appointing Jon Lewis.
