Tamim Iqbal’s Lahore Qalanders qualified for their maiden Pakistan Super League final after they defeated Multan Sultans by 25 runs in the second qualifier at the National Stadium in Karachi on Sunday.
Lahore posted 182-6 in their 20 overs with David Wiese hitting an unbeaten 48 off 21 balls before bundling out Multan for 157 in 19.1 overs to move onto the final.
Sent to bat, Tamim and Fakhar Zaman showed good intent at the top of the order with the Bangladesh one-day international skipper being the aggressor.
For the second straight match, Tamim got off to a brisk start but failed to carry on, this time scoring 30 off 20 balls with five fours, before giving a catch to Khushdil Shah off pacer Junaed Khan in the penultimate ball of the fifth over.

On Saturday’s eliminator against Peshwar Zalmi, Tamim was dismissed after scoring 18 off 10 balls with two fours and one six.
Fakhar went on to score 46 off 36 balls before falling prey to Adam Lyth but Wiese’s late assault, which included five fours and three sixes, took them to a competitive total.
In reply, Multan looked on track to chase down the target, reaching 80-1 in 8.2 overs owing to Lyth’s 50 off 28 balls but Wiese, who finished with 3-27, dismissed him in the very next ball, which started the downfall of Multan’s innings.
Multan kept losing wickets in regular succession as the asking rate kept climbing and in the end they fell well short of the target.
Lahore will now play the final against Karachi Kings at the same venue on November 17.
