After smashing a swashbuckling century and helped Rajasthan Royals to an eight-wicket victory against Mumbai Indians, Ben Stokes referred to it as 'bittersweet' as there is a question mark still there on his team's qualification for the playoff in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

Stokes also said that he wished he could have done this earlier as well. He joined the team late in the tournament as he was with his family earlier where his father has been suffering from brain cancer.
"Sort of bittersweet to be honest - it has taken me so long to get one for the team. I would have preferred to get this form two or three games before when we weren't relying on other results to get us through to the qualifiers," Stokes said at the post-match presentation.

"It's always nice to get back to form. We needed a result from today, so - it's a good victory. Training yesterday was the best I have had for the full time I have been here. Came into the game with a lot more confidence than the other games,” he shared.

He also revealed that his family has been going through a lot at the moment. And, he hopes his century will give them some happiness as well. He was got a lot of support from Sanju Samson, who smashed an unbeaten 54 and he was also going through a rough patch earlier too.

"Nice to spend some time out in the middle and finish the game off. The ball was coming on nicely - be it short or full. It was hard when they dug it into the wicket. We got ourselves into a great position by putting the pressure back on to every bowler who came on. They have obviously got Bumrah, which we managed to score probably a lot freer than we thought we'd be able to,” he further added.
