Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have returned to a remarkable victory by 37-run in their recent game of IPL 2020 campaign against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) thanks to the swashbuckling batting show from the RCB captain Virat Kohli at the Dubai International Stadium.

The RCB skipper Virat Kohli had elected to bat first after winning the toss and started off in a bizarre way as their in-form opener Aaron Finch was out for mere 2 inside the 3overs. However, Kohli joined the youngster Devdutt Padikkal and the duo added 53 runs before the young talent fell after scoring 33 runs from 34 balls, including two fours and one six.

However, there were some big hits from Virat Kohli, who started slowly but soon picked up the pace and was seen in his usual form. While AB de Villiers fell for a duck, followed by Washington Sundar (10), a late cameo from Shivam Dube with two fours and one six helped Kohli smash from the other end.

The captain ended with a scintillating knock of unbeaten 90 off 52 balls with 4 fours and as many sixes and helped RCB put up a decent total of 169 for 4 wickets on board after 20 overs. Shardul Thakur picked the wickets of Padikkal as well as de Villiers, however, was a bit costly with a 10 economy rate. Deepak Chahar only conceded 10 runs in 3 overs he bowled and claimed a wicket, while Sam Curran picked up one scalp.

With a target of 170 to chase down, CSK were desperate to get back in the winning zone so that they could return in the points table battle. However, the hope shattered with a not so steady start. Both the openers - Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson failed to build a partnership as Washington Sundar provided with the first breakthrough by removing du Plessis for mere 8.

However, Watson too got out for 14 inside the power play, courtesy Sundar, again and this time he bowled the in-form opener. It was Ambati Rayudu, who has been doing quite well in this season, scored a stable 42 off 40, which included 4 fours and N Jagadeeshan who scored 33 off 28 with 4 fours – tried their best to steady the ship.

The pair added 64 runs before Chris Morris dismantled Chennai’s batting order and finished with the figures of 4-0-19-3. And, RCB won the game by a whopping 37 runs.

While CSK has been in the sixth place of the points table, RCB are currently at fourth place with 8 points. Chennai will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad next on 13th October and RCB will play KKR next on October 12 as well.
