The Ministry of Health in Bangladesh has conducted the scheduled second-phase test of the four-phased COVID-19 test for the cricketers and officials with the help of the experts of the BARDEM today.
It was scheduled to conduct the second test in September before accommodating the players, coaching staff and officials at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka for the residential camp, which is slated to start on Sunday.
The Health Ministry has fixed a couple of medical teams, one of whom went to the players’ home to home to collect their samples for the test like the first-phase test, while the other team works at hotel premises to collect the samples of the people, who will work with the players, coaching staff and officials during their stay at hotel.

It is learnt that a total of 53 people including 18 players and 35 hotel officials have been brought under the second COVID-19 test. Those who have got governments’ orders (GO) for the Sri Lanka tour, will take part in the COVID test.
It’s learnt from the BCB sources that a total of 27 players have got Governments’ orders. Of them, 18 players took part in the second-phased test. The rest of the nine players, who are out of Dhaka, will give their samples to the BARDEM expert on Saturday.
Foreign coaches including head coach Russell Domingo, fast-bowling coach Ottis Gibson, fielding coach Ryan Cook and trainer Nicholas Lee (Neek Lee) took part in three tests after arriving in the country. This time they will not take part but they will participate in the third-phased test.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury admitted the matter of the second-phased test and said the test has been done the way it was done in the first phase-phased test with the aid of the government expert.
“Bangladesh national cricket team’s 18 players along with 35 hotel officials took part in the second Covid-19 test on Friday. Government experts, splitting into two groups, have taken part in the door-to door test,” said Dr Debashis Chowdhury.
However, the BCB will host another two tests within the seven days before traveling to Sri Lanka, the last two tests which are very crucial for the players because those who want to go to visit Sri Lanka have to get through the hurdle of the pass.
In addition, the first test was done 11 days back. If the tour goes ahead as planned, the cricketers will have to undergo two more tests.
