On Friday, Harbhajan Singh became the second player from Chennai Super Kings camp to pull out his name from Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, after the renowned batsman Suresh Raina. The veteran spinner has said that he wanted to stay with his family amid this time and that the team management has also supported him in his decision.
Meanwhile, the CSK camp had 13 positive COVID-19 cases recently which also included two players and there was a speculation that this might be a reason for Harbhajan’s decision as well. However, a friend of Harbhajan Singh has revealed that his decision was personal and it had nothing related to the situation in CSK camp.

“It wasn’t about the Covid cases in the Chennai camp. But if you have a wife and toddler staying in India for three months, your mind will be diverted and you can’t fully focus on the game. Then it doesn’t matter whether you get two crores or 20 crores. Money is last on your mind,” a friend of the player said to PTI on conditions of anonymity.
Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh had said, “I will not be playing IPL this year due to personal reasons. These are difficult times and I would expect some privacy as I spend time with my family. CSK management has been extremely supportive and I wish them a great IPL Stay safe and Jai Hind."
Harbhajan Singh is the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of Indian Premier League where he has taken 150 wickets. He joined the CSK in 2018 after getting released by the Mumbai Indians. He was bought by the franchise for Rs 2 cr.
The 13th edition of Indian Premier League is all set to take place in UAE from September 19 and the 53-day tournament will end on November 10 as well.
