Bangladesh premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has not returned home from the United States of America (USA) yet. But it is learnt from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official that he is expected to come within the next two-three days.

Shakib will start his practice at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) upon his return from the USA after a long corona-enforced layoff.

Regarding Shakib’s return to the country from the USA, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury said Shakib is supposed to come back to Dhaka within the next three days.

“As far as I know, he will come within the next two-three days and start his training,” said BCB CEO Nizamuddin.

“You have meanwhile known that Shakib will train in his own initiative. In that case, he chooses BKSP for his practice,” Chowdhury told the media.

When asked about Shakib’s availability after the ban, BCB CEO said, “We’re not aware of embargo. As far as we know that the day his ban will be lifted to be eligible for playing in regular cricket.”

Shakib has been serving a two-year ban including a suspended year for not reporting to ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) about his secret conversations with a bookmaker. He will be free to resume his international cricket from October 29.

He decorated his training plan with how he will start his comeback training for competitive cricket. Talking with his childhood mentors-Nazmul Abedeen Fahim and Mohammad Salauddin, he fixed them to help him train at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan upon his return to prepare himself well for the next international assignment.

During the initial period of the outbreak of the highly contagious coronavirus pandemic in Bangladesh and the world as well, Shakib left Dhaka for the USA to join his family in late March.

His wife Umme Ahmed Shishir was expected in the USA, where he experienced fatherhood for the second time (his newborn baby was Errum Hasan) after Alaina Hasan Abri. During the period, he was also engaged in various welfare activities through his ‘Shakib Al Hasan foundation’.

The BCB planned to bring Shakib back to International cricket with the upcoming Test series. The ace all-rounder will be up for grabs after the first Test.

Possibly, he might play the second Test of the three-match series in Sri Lanka which is scheduled to take place in October-November.
