Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has set their sights on bilateral series especially away series after the postponement of the two mega-events of International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) such as ICC World T20 and ACC T20 Asia Cup.
ICC, the world cricket apex body postponed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia 2020 yesterday due to the mounting COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, ACC, the Asian cricket apex body had also postponed the tournament, which was scheduled to hold before the ICC extravaganza.
Bangladesh have no bilateral series within the next few months either at home or away conditions after the postponement of the home series against Australia and New Zealand along with the away series against Pakistan, Ireland and Sri Lanka.

And so, the BCB is now trying their best to communicate with their counterpart boards to reschedule those bilateral international series. Along with that, they are also attempting to resume domestic games in the cricket calendar.
When asked about the matter, BCB chief executive officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury Shujan said the main challenge for them is to bring cricket back to the field.
Nizamuddin also said they are making an effort to reschedule their international commitments, especially away series they had which had been postponed owing to the COVID-19.
Citing the series of Sri Lanka and Ireland, the BCB CEO said they are talking to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Cricket Ireland (CI) to arrange their series if they could finalise any of them, it will then be possible to play in the next few months.
“The main challenge for us is now how we will get back to cricket and how quickly we could reschedule our international commitments which have been postponed,” said Nizamuddin Chowdhury.
“Since the situation in our country is not favourable, the series that has been postponed outside our country, Bangladesh Tour to Sri Lanka, whether we can finalize it as soon as possible. If that can be finalized then maybe we have a chance to play cricket at this time and if the weather in Ireland suits all things considered, then we might go to Ireland too. This is something we can work out,” he said.
“And out of these, we are eyeing to bring domestic cricket back as soon as possible. Mainly Dhaka Premier League (DPL) and then BPL if possible then start these too,” he added.
