Bangladesh National team’s players became overwhelmed about getting the opportunity to go back to the field and have their outdoor practice after a lengthy break.
A total of nine national players have enlisted their names to have held their individual training at the four designated venues across the country, provided by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) from Sunday.
Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the country suspended all sorts of cricketing activities since March 26. However, the roadmap to return to cricket was on process for quite a long time for BCB. But due to the inconvenient situation of the coronavirus, BCB was taking precautions every time but now they have initially announced a list of nine players, who can do their practice.
Nurul Hasan Sohan, who will do his practice in Khulna, expressed his joy and said cricketers are returning back to the field after so many ups and downs.
Even though players haven’t been given permission to do skill training at the moment but Sohan is still hoping that it will also resume after some time.

“The initiative taken by BCB has been good for us. BCB, of course, has been trying for a long time to figure out how to get back on the field. So finally we are going to be back on the field. This is good news for cricketers like us,” Sohan told this web portal.
“In terms of direction, we have been told about working on running and fitness. For now, these will be worked on. And I think the work on skill will start after a little more time,” he added.
Pacer Shafiul Islam, who has also enlisted his named to train at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, spoke highly about safety protocols as it was the reason why everything was halted.
“Safety is first. Because of safety reasons, we could not return to the field for so long, we were not able to do practice. That is why now the practice sessions have been arranged in such a way that we have to practice one by one separately,” Shafiul Islam said.
However, spinner Nayeem Hasan, who was slated to practice as the only cricketer in Chittagong, said that many are reluctant to resume practice at the given venues as the skill training hasn't been permitted by the cricket board and preferring to practice while staying at home for that reason.
“We’ve actually been told to practice for now. For this they gave us one hour. Since there is no skill training at the moment, just running and fitness, so, everyone is saying that for now, they will practice at home instead of going to the field,” Nayeem Hasan said.
In this regard the 30-year-old right-arm pacer Shafiul said that practicing at home is just a matter of personal choice.
“In fact, it is a personal matter. Those who have the opportunity are practicing at home. I thought the proper equipment of the gym would be available on the field. This is why I decided,” he added.
The wicketkeeper-batsman Sohan, however, hopes that if skill training is started after Eid, the rest will want to return to the field as well.
“Hopefully, in this way, we will be able to start team practice after a few days,” Sohan concluded.
