Gayle opts himself out of CPL

Citing his personal reasons, Chris Gayle, T20 specialist and swashbuckling opener of the West Indies pulled out his name from the upcoming edition of the T20 Blockbuster Cricket Tournament Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The cash-rich CPL is scheduled to be played between August 18 and September 10 behind closed doors in a stadium of Trinidad and Tobago.
The CPL franchise team St Loucia Zouks picked him as one of the marquee players in April this year. But Gayle conveyed his decision to them.
As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, Gayle stated that he hasn’t seen his family due to the lockdown and now he has decided to take some breaks and spend time with his family.
Earlier he had played for Jamaica Tallawahs and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the tournament. With Tallawahs he won the credible CPL title twice.
Due to his public criticism of Ramnaresh Sarwan and other Jamaica Tallawahs members Gayle nearly avoided a penalty from the CPL earlier of this year.
Gayle publicly accused Sarwan for his ousting from Tallawahs and addressed Sarwan as ‘worse than coronavirus’.
The left-handed destructive batsman is the leading T20 run-scorer of all time as well as the man with the most centuries in this shortest format of cricket. He played most of the T20 leagues across the world including Indian Premier League (IPL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), BigBash, Pakistan Super League (PSL), Blockbuster T20 Country Blast and so on.
He is also the leading CPL run-scorer of all time, with 2,344 runs in his tournament tally.
