Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Selector Minahjul Abedin Nannu has said that the Tigers’ upcoming tour of Sri Lanka is likely to be postponed.
But he did not rule out of traveling to the island nation. Nannu said the tour between the two countries might be held at the later part of the current year.
In that case, the series could be pushed back to September as Minahjul told the media, stating that the training of the cricketers may resume in July if the coronavirus situation of the country improves within this period of time.

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is showing their high interest to bring international cricket back in their shores in aspects of the COVID-19 situation is improving rapidly in Sri Lanka but the reverse situation is in Bangladesh as the cases of the corona-contagion is rapidly surging with the pace of the time.
“We may tour Sri Lanka in August and the Test series could commence from the first week of September, though everything will depend on the situation,” Minhajul Abedin said. “We have to wait for the situation to improve and find a way to get back to normalcy,” Nannu told the media.
The chief selector is also in a dilemma on picking the right team after such a long lay-off for the players. He hoped that the players could return to training by mid-July so the selectors could assess them properly to pick the right players to form a balanced team for the tour.
No form of cricket is going on at present. Players are training at home by maintaining the rules of home quarantine, he said, adding that they also have to know how they are doing and what their condition is.
“Hopefully collective training will restart from the middle of July, with proper health protocols,” he concluded.
