Bangladesh women’s cricket team’s leading fast bowler Jahanara Alam said that she does not find any problem at the saliva’s ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to have players’ health safe from the dreadful coronavirus pandemic.
Jahanara also said it will not put any impact on her performance as she is used to shine the ball with her sweat.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently confirmed interim changes to its playing regulations, which include the ban on the use of saliva to shine the ball after which many international bowlers expressed their concerns about the ICC ban on saliva, saying the temporary measure might put bowlers at a disadvantageous position.
“My answer to saliva is that I don’t use saliva myself, I never do. I may have accidentally used it a few times in my long career. I used to bowl above 10-12 overs every day. But maybe it has been used only a few times in my career. I always use sweat. I don’t use saliva at all because I think it’s very different, I don’t really like using saliva,” said Jaharana Alam, who spearheaded the pace attack of Bangladesh in the international arc.
“Saliva will be used, then the ball will go into the hands of many players, it does not look good. I know the bowl gets good shining by the usage of saliva. But I think it is possible to bring back the shine by rubbing the pants after pouring little water. So there is no need to use saliva,” Jahanara told the media.
“Saliva Ban is no problem for me. Because I’m habituated in a different way and another advantage for me is that I can have a natural swing with the new ball and the old ball gives me a good reverse swing. So there is no tension for me,” she concluded.
