Bangladesh national team’s cricketers have started coming out of home for their fitness training after being stayed at home quarantine for so long because of the countrywide lockdown for the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
A string of players like Mushfiqur Rahim asked for permission to get into the stadium for their fitness session but Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] has disagreed with them in the wake of soaring of the COVID-19 virus.
After falling into the pressure, they approved they haven’t given any specific date and asked players to wait. But that couldn’t hold players as they started to do their running and other possible training out of their home.
Players had been house arrested like situation in the country from March. After over two months, the government recently eased down the lockdown but the risk of the coronavirus is still at large high. But workaholic players like Mushfiqur couldn’t suppress.

After his intense home workout, he has finally stepped out of his Banani home and started to do his running in the early morning. At least his video of running gives the proof of that.
On the other side, the national team pacer Taskin Ahmad has also come out from his Mohammadpur home and started going to the gymnasium near his home and doing other running in an under construction building area in Basila.
“I feel something different to go outside. For this reason, I left during the Fajr prayer and did running for one and a half or two hours so that I could be prepared when the game starts suddenly though already I’m a little behind. I would have to stay in quarantine if I’d have been corona. Even if I’m dropped from the team, it’s like being in quarantine for me, I don’t want to have that," Taskin Ahmad told a leading Bengali daily.
However, another pace bowling all-rounder Saifuddin is not only doing his fitness training but also started to do his skill training at Feni Government College ground. But due to rain, he is not able to do it on regular basis. But he is doing whenever he is getting the opportunity.
“All the fields in Feni is in bad condition. When it rains, there is no condition to practice. I’ve batted and bowled with breaks. I can’t work with fitness at home properly. What I do at home is not enough for a pacer. All in all, it’s a very difficult situation, but I’m still doing it,” Saifuddin said.
The BCB has not opened the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur for cricketers to practice yet.
However, BCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury said there was no impediment to the cricketers’ practice in accordance with hygiene rules, even if it could not be done at the BCB ground.
“We’re discouraging them to come to the field and do practice in the current situation. But we’re not saying that they can’t practice anywhere. At this time, the players are well aware of what needs to be done to protect health. They are working according to the health rules. Many players have all the arrangements at home and many don’t. They have to find an alternative,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin said.
