Williamson keen to play BPL

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has expressed his willingness to play in the Bangabandhu-Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and said he will take part in its future edition if he can manage his time.
Williamson is regarded as one of the best captains in the world currently and his sheer presence definitely will add a new dimension to the blockbuster T20 Cricket Tournament in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal had asked Kane Williamson in his facebook live chat show regarding his interest in BPL, responding to his question the Kiwis charismatic captain, who led his country to the final of the 2019 Cricket World Cup in England but they missed to lift the coveted trophy by a wafer-thin margin losing to the host England, has revealed his interest to play in BPL.
“I’m very interested in playing in BPL. If I can manage my time, then I obviously want to play in BPL. The competition is very good in BPL. There are a lot of good things in this tournament. Let’s see what happens in future,” Kane Williamson said.
“When BPL starts most of New Zealand is busy playing their Summer cricket in their home soil. And hence, we do not see too many Kiwis players taking part in this competition,” Williamson told while he was taking part in facebook live chat show with Tamim.
Normally the Kiwis’ cricketers in BPL are seen lesser in BPL due to their domestic calendar. New Zealand Luke Ronchi was seen in the initial editions for the then Chittagong Vikings.
Therefore, the most important inclusion was former New Zealand all-format captain Brendon McCullum, who played BPL for Rangpur Riders under the captaincy of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza when Chris Gayle was also a part of the team. Rangpur championed in the 2017 edition of the BPL for the combined efforts of the veteran trio.
