Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan on Thursday said that they have adopted a wait-and-see policy regarding determining the future of the three-Test series tour of Sri Lanka.

SLC recently said that they are hopeful to host Bangladesh and India but BCB president insisted that they are not in a position to commit anything

‘’See, willing to host that doesn't mean it will work. Whether we can send, whether it will be right to send our players at the moment,’’ Nazmul told reporters at National Sports Council on Wednesday.

‘’Where they will stay, what they will do. These are not easy decisions. A place is good now, a month later if we see it has started again in there,’’ he said.

‘’It is not possible to say where it will end or what is the situation. We will observe others. What the ICC does, ACC does. What other countries are doing,’’ he said.

‘’So far no one was able to tell when the match will start while giving dates. We will be first in this case, thinking like this is not right,’’ he added.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan, MP today (Wednesday, 20 May 2020) over 501 cheques of Taka ten thousand each to State Minister for the Ministry of Youth & Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell as part of the BCB’s initiative to support sportspersons affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

The cheques were distributed to sportsmen and women of 23 sports federations under the National Sports Council other than cricket. Secretary for the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mohammad Akhtar Hossain and BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury were also present during the cheque handover.

Nazmul added that they are yet to make any decision regarding resuming cricket in the country as they are unsure of everything.

‘’No, there has been no discussion [ regarding resuming cricket] and how there will be any discussion. Will I be able to give a date, as we will play in July or in August,’’ said Nazmul.

‘’I don't know anything. So these are not being discussed. Talking about postponing the World Cup was held there. It is very difficult to say what will happen bilaterally here,’’ he said.

‘’I mean, we still don't know when the ICC events will be, but will know that. Then we have to reschedule accordingly. So it's big trouble up ahead. But it is the same for everyone. We’ll try to see if we can keep most of the game which has been postponed,’’ he added.
