Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo thinks that It’ll be better for them if the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup is rescheduled and pushed back to the next year due to the effect of coronavirus pandemic worldwide.

Domingo clarified the reason and said that Tigers will get Shakib Al Hasan back with the team and whose return to the national team will be a big boost to them ahead of the World Cup.

Ace all-rounder is currently away from all sorts of cricketing competitions due to his two-year suspension with one suspended year for not reporting of bookmaker’s approaches at different times during the period of 2019. Shakib will be available from 30 October.

If the event happens on due time, the national team will have to travel Australia leaving their ace all-rounder that would be worse for them. But if the rescheduling happens, they could fly with a full strength team that will be bolstered with the inclusion of Shakib.

The seventh edition of the ICC extravaganza is scheduled to be held from 18 October to 15 November 2020 in Australia, who is still hoping to implement their plans and host the world tournament.

But due to the coronavirus situation, it’s now on the verge of postponement like the other series and tournaments irrespective of domestic and international all over the world.

Domingo, like the other countries’ coaches, is in tether and waiting for the final call from the ICC though he is moving forward with the plans and goals for the current schedule of the tournament. But if the tournament is pushed back to the next year, he has to reset team’s plans and goals, the rescheduling of the flagship event, he thinks, will be better for them to take complete preparation for the event.

“Obviously the T20 World Cup that’s something we have spoken about over the last six-seven months. Something we really hope takes place. We’ll have to wait for a week or two until they make a decision but if it can’t happen, we just got to reset our goals and reset our plans and work towards when the tournament does take place again,” Russell Domingo said.

“If the T20 World Cup is rescheduled to next year, obviously Shakib will be back and that will be a big boost for us,” Domingo told this to a leading English portal.

As per the existing schedule, Bangladesh is expected to start their WC campaign from 19 October by playing against the Netherlands, Namibia and Scotland in the first round of the mega event to book a spot in the Super 12.
