Question mark stands beside hosting New Zealand in August also. Discussion is going on the future of Bangladesh tour to Sri Lanka in July.

On the third week of July Bangladesh were supposed to play three Test against Sri Lanka.  The three-Test match which was meant to be played in Colombo, Galle and Kandy are part of the Test Championship. Anxiety is looming around, due to the pandemic if this tour will be postponed like the others too.

But as the both Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] and Sri Lanka Cricket Board [SLC] has two months left in hand so they aren't losing hope right away. The situation in Sri Lanka is not so bad due to coronavirus but still, the two board wants to take some more times to reach on any decision regarding the series.

BCB, Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that they are in talks with SLC and they are also observing the situation in both parts. He also said that not only the situation of Sri Lanka have to be improved, but the condition in Bangladesh also needs to be improved as well to make the tour. So, by following up on the order of the government BCB will reach on to any decision.

"Several tours to Sri Lanka have already been postponed. The Sri Lankan board is talking to us, communicating. But the matter cannot be clarified yet. Because one thing to keep in mind is that not only the country we will go to play in have to be in a good condition, our situation, the government's instructions on travel, these things are also important. If only that country is alright then that will not be enough, the guidance of our government is also important. Therefore, it will take some more time to understand whether Sri Lanka will be visited or not. Since the government is working on corona and no one can say when it will be all right. So the tour of Sri Lanka is still in uncertainty," Nizamuddin Chowdhury said.

In the Test-playing country in the whole South Asia, only Sri Lanka's situation is much better than others.  For this reason, SLC urged to host the Indian Premier League [IPL].

A total of coronavirus infected cases from yesterday is 619. The biggest achievement of Sri Lankans is they are successful to minimal the death toll. After 9 April no new death cases have been informed due to the coronavirus. The death case is limited to seven for the last 20 days.

In that case, the scenario of Bangladesh is far worse. The waiting of BCB is for that reason. CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that the board wants to observe the situation for a few days more to get a clear picture out of it.

"The corona infection is high currently in our country.  We might get a clear picture after some days. Then we can take to any decision," he said.
