Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis official said that they will wait till April 15 to take a decision regarding the Bangabandhu Dhaka Division Premier League, country’s traditional club based cricket tournament.
CCDM, a unit of Bangladesh Cricket Board responsible to hold the domestic Dhaka-based club tournament, were forced to stop the DPL after first round due to the coronavirus pandemic.
CCDM officials are anticipating that soon the situation will be normal again and if that is the case they will go for a shorter league.
‘’We will watch out till 15 April to take a decision regarding DPL,’’ Ali Hossain, member secretary of CCDM told Cricfrenzy on Friday.
‘’If the situation becomes normal it within this time frame we can complete the tournament playing on single league basis,’’ he said.

‘’The decision in this regard [DPL] would be taken only after discussing with all the clubs,’’ he said adding that chances are very slim of organizing the T20 premier league after the DPL’s 50-over version.
‘’Not having enough time might be the main reason of not having the T20 league,’’ he concluded.
However, club officials are against playing the tournament on a single league basis as they feel the league can be completed by playing during the month of Ramadan.
.
Clubs are also looking forward to see the league starts again. Manager of Abahani Limited Sheikh Mamun said that,
"If the matches start then the whole league can be completed. It will be not any problem to have matches during the month of Ramadan. If the situation gets better then we will want the league to be completed as per planned initially otherwise we may have to play on a single league basis,’’ said a club organizer.
Another club organizer emphasized that there should be no relegation this season due the fact everything had to be altered due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"We can request to have the league finish properly. If it is possible to make two groups and play, it can also happen. A team can be announced as champion and no one gets relegation. In this case no club would have any objection,’’ said an organizer of a lower ranked club.
