Sri Lanka Cricket Board has donated two and a half million Sri Lankan rupees to the government in the fight to stop the global epidemic. Due to the coronavirus pandemic sports events have been terminated without any kind of play. All the cricket boards in the world have done so. Sri Lanka Cricket Board has closed all the cricket tournaments indefinitely. Government and health workers are working hard to prevent coronavirus infections.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board, said that in a press release on Sunday (22 March),  "Corona has created a nationwide health risk. The SLC is donating 25 million Sri Lankan rupees to the government to combat this. Arrangements are being made to give it to the government immediately. Realizing the importance of the current problem, Sri Lankan cricket has taken several steps to help the government. ”

"The board has already closed all cricket tournaments," the SLC said in a statement. "All national and first class cricketers have been asked to stay at home. Have been asked to follow all the rules and regulations given by the government. Our players are also spreading messages towards people to be safe through social media."

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has been impressed by the board's work. On Twitter praising SLC's initiative, he wrote, "Thanks to the Sri Lankan Board for donating of 2.5 crore lkr to assist the govternment in its battle against coronavirus. The support flowing in from all ends has been overwhelming. We also thank all the individual players who have come forward in offering support."
