Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam said that neither he is surprised to get a contract in white-ball cricket nor does he lose his sleep for not being a regular in the shorter format.

The inclusion of Taijul in all formats national contract raised quite a few eyebrows considering he is labeled as a Test specialist but the seasoned campaigner believe he had got what it takes to survive in white-ball cricket.
‘’I'm not surprised. I now believe that I can do well in ODIs. When I first played ODI, I did well. Then I played a match at the World Cup (2015). Didn't do very well In that match. Obviously I had lacking. Those who form the team, surely they know and understand better than me,’’ he said.
‘’Now that they are considering me, I am obviously happy. For a long time I have been playing international cricket, playing Test regularly. I have had many experiences. I think that experience will help me in ODIs as well. The things that were previously lacking in my bowling, I have now added many things,’’ he said.
‘’I don't know the reason. It was not my decision. Maybe they thought, I can't do it now or I'm not ready for the ODI. Had a hat-trick on the debut, but was not against the big team (against Zimbabwe). That might have been as less important. Maybe I couldn't do well against the big team. They might have thought that they would pick me up when I will be more prepared. I have no complaints on that.
‘’Look, I have never been frustrated with these things. But not being upset, I won't say that. It can be. But nothing to be sorrowful. Because I know, I will get what I have in my destiny. Yes, I have to work hard to get it, my brain needs to be sharp for that. Just listening or showing something I have to catch up and do it,’’ he concluded.
