Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam believes that he is better equipped to play white-ball cricket considering he is working on his pace variations, a thing that he lacked earlier.

The inclusion of Taijul in all formats national contract raised quite a few eyebrows considering he is labeled as a Test specialist but the seasoned campaigner looks poised to shrug off the ‘Test bowler’ tag though he don’t feel that it had a severe impact on his career.
‘’I never thought of myself as just a Test bowler. I don't think the selectors ever said that also. The media made that up. Media have made me as a Test bowler. Even the board never said that to me though I feel that there was a problem with that tags,’’ said Taijul adding that spin consultant Daniel Vettori raised his confidence to try his luck in the shorter format cricket.
‘’My bowling speed was same. It is hard to do well if you have the same speed in ODI. I also had less work in bowling. After coming of Vettori, I started working on those parts. When Sunil Joshi was here(spin bowling coach), I worked with him on Test bowling. My thinking was only there. When Vettori arrived, he saw my bowling and said, "You can play in all formats with this bowling, you just need some fine tuning. His words changed my thinking. If all the formats can be played in the same way by not changing the origin of my bowling, then why not try it. I did some work with him, especially on pace variations. That helped a lot. Now my pace variation and some other things are getting better,’’ he said.
‘’Whoever the coach may be, I always try to talk to them more. Whether or not I know English, as much as I know, I try to communicate. They may also think that the boy is interested in learning. They also became enthusiastic. In case of Vettori, it seems to have happened the same. Whenever I get him in practice, I talk to him a lot. He said that on that context,’’ said Taijul.
