Bangladesh national team players were expecting expansion in terms of both number of players for the national contract and monthly wage before Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon had declared 17 names including initially mistakenly’ dropped Shoumya Sarker.
BCB, though prolonged the list of players, adding three new faces in the fresh central contract list, but did not meet the demand of increasing their monthly wage. However, that will not make the players upset of the fact as BCB has enacted different contracts for red ball cricket, for the first time- which will see them earning more in terms of their monthly salary and per match fee- though that is also not the case with every member of the contracted list.
The new criteria will be increasing the monthly salary by 25 to 50 percent of few of the contracted players, considering their previous monthly wage. But there are also names to mention who will still be playing with increment of monthly wage; even some will see reduction due to the new pattern, for instance big name Mustafizur Rahman.
Mustafizur used to get 3 lacks (BDT) in the previous contract, but under the new model, which is set by an individual criteria for red-ball cricket, the Fizz now will get 2 lacks per month, after being demoted to B category from A as the pacer is only included for red-ball cricket in the new contract.

Another pacer Abu Jayed Rahi, who has been very consistent in terms of his performance since the Tigers’ Test series in India- has not got increment in monthly salary along with T20 skipper Mahmudullah Riayd and Naim Hasan, who had picked nine wickets from two innings in February against Zimbabwe in the solitary Test series.
Though, BCB has raised the match, which will be quite satisfactory for the national team players. the board has incremented the previous 3-lack taka match by double while one-day match fee has increased at 3 lacks from previous 2 lacks and T20 match fee increased 50 thousand taka from the previous 1 lack 25 thousand (BDT).
Since 2017, A plus (+) classified cricketers were getting 4 lacks (BDT) per month and A categorized players have been getting 3 lacks while category B, C and D- were getting 2 lacks, 1.50 lacks and 1 lack (BDT) per month, respectively.
The wage criteria still remained same in the new central contract, but the players’ monthly income will surely increase as the players will get separate payment for red ball cricket from now on. The seven cricketers, who are enlisted in both criteria, will get the salary for longer and shorter format, separately from bank, but the player will not get the full amount of salary from both criteria.
The newly introduced ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal is in A+ category for both red and white-ball cricket but he will get the full amount in criteria while half from the other, which sums up his monthly salary at 6 lacks taka per month. And Mithun, who is in C category in white-ball criteria, fallen in D category for red-ball cricket. Mithun will get just half of his red-ball salary.
Mushfiqur Rahim, another senior member of the contract, enlisted in A+ category in both format. The dependable batsman is also the player which highest number of matches played in a year, which will get him 20 thousand taka bonus for that.
Tamim will get 30 thousand taka more for being the captain, which will be the same for the skippers in other formats.
The monthly wage match fee which have been discussed- are including the tax fees.
