Bangladesh opener Liton Kumar Das said that they wanted to give their inspirational leader a fitting farewell during the series concluding match against Zimbabwe.

Bangladesh defeated Zimbabwe by 123- run and clinched the series by a clean sweep at the Sylhet International Stadium in the rain-hit third one-day international of three-match series in Sylhet on Friday.

Liton hit- 176 off 143 balls, the highest ever ODI innings for Bangladesh, while Tamim played an unbeaten knock of 128 off balls as the duo put 292-run in a record opening stand .

‘’We want to give our captain a big send-off in his last match as captain,’’ Liton told reporters at the post match press conference sitting beside his captain who backed him through all his lows.

Mashrafee said that he is happy to see Liton is establishing him at the international circuit.

‘’ I always like watching two batsmen, one is Virat Kohli and other one is Liton. Many batsmen score runs, but as long as they are on the wicket, it looks nice to watch them bat. I have seen saying it. And not only grabbing the wicket, Liton can change the momentum, hold on the wicket, play big innings,’’ said Mashrafee.

 ‘’I think now he has been able to pick it. Now he understands the game well. I think now he has that experience after playing four five years. And I said it, it is the peak time for him to score runs. Now he will score runs. The 121 he scored against India, it was his natural game. I have always told him that,’’ he said adding that he is relieved that he could keep his promise that he made to Liton during the tour of West Indies in 2018, promoting up in the order.

 ‘’One day Liton was telling me that he wants to bat at the top when we were in West Indies[ in 2018] where in three match he didn’t played and Bijoy(Anamul Haque) opened in all the three matches,’’ said Mashrafee

‘’After the second ODI when Anamul failed everyone wanted Liton to be in the playing XI as he scored runs in the practice game but we discussed with him and gave Bijoy straight three match chance and Liton was upset that time,’’ he said.
