Bangladesh’s wicket-keeper bat-woman Nigar Sultana said that they paid the price of bowling badly in the power-play against India in the ongoing ICC World Twenty20 in Australia.

Despite a good preparation camp right before the main event, Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket team made a disappointing start in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup losing to India by 18 runs in the Australian city of Perth on Monday.

In their first group match, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. They restricted India in 142 for 6 in 20 overs.

While chasing, Indian bowlers led by leg-spinner Poonam Yadav restricted Bangladesh to 124-8 and won the match by 18 runs.

‘’I think we did not bowl well in the power plays. They played really well. Shafali Verma absolutely played brilliantly today. Even we missed some chances in the field, and we bowled badly I mean we did not bowl well in the last five overs as a result we lost the match,’’ said Nigar adding that despite not playing the top-six teams they are well prepared for the global event.

‘’Actually, just because we're not in the rank eight, so we could not play much as possible matches against top eight teams and all. But we played many tournaments in our country back home, and even we played some triangle series and even some kind of T20 series as well,’’ she said.

‘’We are from a cricket crazy nation, so, yeah, people are expecting from us to win, and we are going also for the win actually,’’ she said.
