Bangladesh Test team skipper Mominul Haque said the team is desperate to improve their performance in the one-off Test against Zimbabwe which is set to start from today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital.
After performing poorly in the Tests against Pakistan and India, Bangladesh are now facing Zimbabwe with a hope to make a positive impact with their performance at home.
Bangladesh national team lost last six encounters in longer version cricket, as their last victory in red ball cricket, came in on 2018, against West Indies.
During the pre-match press conference on Friday, skipper Mominul said, every member of the team desperate to display some good cricket with more pressure which he said reflected in their training too.
“Everyone is trying desperately to improve and play good cricket,” Mominul told reporters during the press conference.

“From preparation to everything, everyone is excited to play this match,” the skipper later added saying that a big innings is necessary to come out of the disappointing situations they have gone through in their last couple of matches.
“If we don’t have at least one hundred, it will go down. So I think… everyone goes through bad phase. As team we have been in a bad phase. We are working on it as a team,” said Mominul.
“So I am promising that there will be big hundred, not only hundred, someone can even play a three-hundred innings. Anyone can play a big innings,” he added.
Despite suffering five innings defeat in their last six Test matches, Mominul said there will be some pressure to win this match against Zimbabwe but he said some pressure necessary to bring out the best of his team which will help out to overcome the bad phase they have been having.
“Pressure will be there. You will have to play with some pressure. That’s normal. If you cannot take this level of pressure, then it will be hard in international level,” said Mominul.
“If we can win the match and play some good cricket, then I think the whole situation will change. we will overcome that bad phase,” he said.
Mominul did not reveal their bowling strategies but said there will be no permanent strategies regarding the game plan.
“If you go with the same strategies, then the other teams will have a chance to catch you up. And if you don’t play pace bowlers, we will have to struggle when we will go outside,” he said.
“The wicket is good. I hope it will be good and everyone will enjoy watching the match” Mominul concluded.
