Mushfiqur eyes to prove fitness, form as BCL second round gets underway

Mushfiqur Rahim will be looking forward to seize the chance of proving his fitness and form as the second round of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) is set to commence today.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)-run North Zone will be facing the only winning side from the first round, Islami Bank East Zone at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground in Cox's Bazar while in another BCB-run team South Zone will be locking horns against Walton Central Zone at Sylhet International Stadium in Sylhet today.
After drawing the first encounter in the eighth edition of the franchise-based first-class Bangladesh Cricket League against South Zone, North Zone will surely have a boost as they are getting back their star player wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim in the squad, who was unavailable in the first round of the tournament for BCB North Zone due to hamstring injury.
Earlier, BCB chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury made statement that Mushfiq passed the fitness test in Mirpur Tuesday and will be in contention for a place in the side for the lone Test match against Zimbabwe, slated for later this month.

Meanwhile, opening batsman Imrul Kayes, who also took the fitness test Tuesday, is also fit for Islami Bank East Zone in the second round of BCL after recuperating from calf muscle injury and successfully undergoing rehab.
Meanwhile, Walton Central Zone all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who is suffering from a finger injury sustained during the BPL is currently out of action and is eyeing a comeback from the third round of the BCL after also missing the first round of the domestic first-class tournament.
The current league leader after the first round, East Zone will be missing Tamim Iqbal who scored a triple hundred for them in the first round to seal an innings and 9 runs victory over Central Zone.
Taijul Islam who also star for East Zone picking 9 wickets in the first innings, will also be missing the second round for his team. While pacer Rubel Hossain will also be missing due to the same reason.
North Zone will have to replace Liton Das, while South Zone will have to coup with Mahmudullah Riyad.
And Central Zone will be missing Mohammad Mithun and Soumya Sarkar.
Tamim Iqbal is leading the top scorers’ list with 334 runs after the first round of the tournament while he is followed by Shamsur Rahman (136) of South Zone.
Among the bowlers, right arm 19-year-old spinner Nayeem Hasan leading with 8 wickets and will be looking forward to grab more wickets when the second round gets underway today.
