Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan informed he is yet to find reasons behind Bangladesh’s humiliating 2-0 series T20I defeat against hosts Pakistan. Bangladesh toured the country for the first time in more than a decade and was confident ahead of the series given the cricketers had just finished a 35-day long Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League T20. However as it happened Bangladesh were found clueless with the bat in the two matches that took and conceded defeats while the third game of the series got abandoned due to rain.
BCB boss Nazmul also is oblivious of the majority of the strategical decision of which back fired particularly mixing of the batting lineup. The squad carried six openers with most batting at positions that they are out of the box. In the two matches Bangladesh won the toss and batter first but they could only portray their struggle against Pakistan bowlers and put below-par totals to defend.

“We need to sit [for a meeting] with the players, coach and team management and understand. I had met [Mahmudullah] Riyad and Tamim [Iqbal] and asked them the reason for such poor batting. Why did we decide to bat first having come to play in Pakistan after a long time? We chase well. But they said the wicket was for batting but it did not reflect the way they played,” informed Nazmul to the media at his personal corporate office in Dhaka on Wednesday.
“When Tamim as not available [for two series] we had Liton Das and [Mohammad] Naim open for us. Then we have Soumya [Sarkar] who is also an opener. In the second game, Soumya should had come out to bat at number three but instead we had Mahidi [Hasan] come at three. I do not think it is logical. Liton could have come at number three and Riyad could have batted at four as Mushfiqur [Rahim] is not there. Riyad always wanted to bat up the order but this time it looked this time he wanted to come at last to bat. I cannot say everything in public but it is clear that we cannot win scoring 130 140 runs. I need to sit with them [team],” BCB chief added.
“Doesn’t matter how exepensive the coach is, you do not need to make Tamim, Shakib, Mushfiqur, Riyad their playing role. It is sad if you need to teach Soumya and Liton of their role. I do not think you need to make the best of the players teach their role in the team,” said Nazmul.
