Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is all set to miss the opening round of the Bangladesh Cricket League due to hamstring injury.

Mushfiqur, who skipped the tour of Pakistan citing personal reason, was expected to be most part of the BCL for North Zone.

However, he will be unavailable due to hamstring injury that he sustained in the just concluded Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League.

‘’He had the hamstring during the BBPL and he played despite the hamstring. But now it aggravated and so he will not be available for the first round game of BCL as their physio had given him rest,’’ BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury told Cricfrenzy.com

Islamic Bank East Zone had a double blow as Khaled Ahmed will not be available as he sustained side strain during the practice session while they will also not have the service Nasir Hossain, who failed the beep test on Wednesday securing 10 points while the bench mark is 11 points.

Khaled was looking forward to return back to competitive cricket after a long lay-off due to his knee injury that forced him to go under the knife.

‘’Khaled was bowling well in the nets but unfortunately he had a side strain and now ruled out from the opening phase of the tournament,’’ said East Zone coach Abdul Karim adding that they are going to wait for Nasir Hossain hoping that he can pass the beep test and can make him available for the other round of BCL.

‘’We are not seeking any replacement for Nasir as we have decided to wait for him and see if he can be available for us for the other rounds of the tournament,’’ he said.

Walton Central Zone also have injury issues as they are not sure regarding the availability of Mehedy Hasan Miraj, who sustained a finger injury and will not be available to bowl.

Though Mehedy came to the practice session he did not take part in any kind of drills and instead went to BCB doctor room to try and learn about the gravity of his injury.

Walton officials said that they were informed about Mehedy’s injury that will prevent him from bowling even before the players draft but decided to include him as their last cricketer largely due to the fact they had a long relationship with the cricketer, who apparently also happens to be their brand ambassador.

It was learnt there is very little chance of Imrul Kayes taking the field on the opening round game for Islamic Bank East Zone as he is yet to recover from injuries
