Rajshahi Royal skipper Andre Russell said on Friday that he would have liked to have some prize money in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League as that would have made the winning team members happy.
Bangladesh Cricket Board officials said that there will be no prize money for the champions and runners-up in the ongoing edition of BBPL unlike the previous editions for the participant teams in the BPL as they organizer did not had any franchises like the previous six editions
‘’Yes, there is no prize money in this edition of BBPL as we did not have any franchises. We did not take any franchise fees so whom will give the prize money because there are only sponsors in the ongoing BBPL,’’ Ismail Haider Mallick, BPL’s member secretary told reporters regarding the prize money issue.

Russel said that he was surprised because in franchise-based cricket every member of the champion team looks forward to the prize money.
‘’The thing is in this franchise cricket the prize money is something that every player look forward to and to those little bonuses,’’ said Russell.
For me winning the tournament is everything and it might sound I do not like money,’’ he said.
‘’But I just want to know the local guys and they guys who have helped us with their bags who have been around the team I just want to make sure these guys taken care of and get some bonus,’’ he said.
‘’All these local guys once they taken care of we are very happy,’’ he said.
