Sylhet Thunder head coach Herschelle Gibbs on Wednesday advised Bangladeshi players to improve their understanding level of the game like their ace all-rounder Sakib al Hasan in order to get successes in all formats.
The 45-year old former South African batsman identified that most of his local charges don’t understand English very well and expressed his frustration by saying that it has been hard for him to coach in this part of the world as the locals hardly understood the coach’s instructions.

‘’There are a lot of local players, who don’t understand English. It’s difficult for me to make points all the time. It’s frustrating because when I talked to them I saw them listening but they don’t think at all,’’ Gibbs told reporters in Sylhet.
‘‘I think the understanding level of the game needs to be improved. They [players] are very temperamental and it’s difficult for me just to explain to them as they don’t understand,’ he said adding that he asked them to copy Sakib in this regard.
‘’I think the local players should follow someone like Sakib al Hasan. His understanding of the game and reading situations has improved a lot in the last couple of years… even the way he played in the World Cup; he always gets a chance to get in. He never felt that he needed to go from ball one.
‘His timing of starting innings was good and those small things I think the local players must improve on to take the game to another level. That’s the mental side,’ he added.
