Sylhet Thunders head coach Herschelle Gibbs said on Wednesday that he have urged his charges to step up in the New Year leaving their disappointment behind.
Thunders won only one game so far and they are eliminated from the tournament but according to the South African, they still have something to play for in the tournament.

‘’I would not say it. It is tough, I would tell them, as hard as it is, it is never a nice situation to be in. but we all been in a situation.
‘’It is an opportunity for the next four games but someone has to be a hero, to turn it all around. Yes obviously, we can’t make the playoffs anymore but that’s I said new challenge. I said to them last night that, it is a new year, they gave to elevate all aspects of the game. Mentally, technically, physically… things that improve as a cricketer. Both with bat and bowl. So that for is the first thing,’’ Gibbs told reporters on Wednesday as his team reached their home venue where the tournament is scheduled to start from January 2.
‘’It is nice to be part of different leagues. You see different skills, skills that are not displayed. You see the ability to read the situation. So that’s all the things, that nice to be able to pick up. And now we obviously got ourselves in the situation. And a lot of the times, the reading of the situation, on the field, is the way of basics for building a little bit of pressure, partnerships with bat and bowl- those are the things as I coach I look at,’’ he said.
‘’How you understand the reading of the game. Guys they are all good. They are all good with bat and bowl. So that for me is where we are lacking just a particular squad of players. Just the understanding of the game. Making better decisions, things like it. And that is why the guys at the bottom of the league, not only us, that is where they fall a short little bit,’’ he said.
