Khulna Tigers young leg spinner Aminul Islam Biplob said on Thursday that he is eyeing to add the arm ball in his repertoire and trying to follow the guidelines prepared by national team spin bowling coach Daniel Vettori in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League.

Biplob, the 20-year-old national team leg spinner, featured in both the games of Khulna in BBPL and considered to be one of the future prospects of the national team in the shorter format game.

“I am using the arm ball as a variation with leg spin,’’ Biplob told reporters at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram on Thursday.

.“I am trying to do what I usually do. I am trying to apply those in the match that Vettori has shown and areas where we have worked. I am trying to apply those in the match,’’ he said.

‘’I am doing the arm-ball and the topspin apart from what I usually do,’’ he said.

Biplob added that the wicket at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium has always favored the batsmen that made it tough for the bowlers.

The leg spinner was a key in their opening match against Chattgoram claiming 1 wicket for 25 runs in four overs but proved mediocre, if not, then expensive giving away 30 runs in two overs.

“Every match is challenging for the leg spinners. Especially when we play in Chattogram because the wicket here favors the batsmen more,’’ said Biplob he said.

Biplob said that though he used to bowl leg spin from early days he focused on taking leg spin more seriously after his stint in the BCB High Performance Unit under the guidance of Simon Helmut.

“Many people think that I have started bowling from HP. It is not like that. I bowl from my childhood. Maybe that time, I did not come up as a professional bowler or as a first choice. And when I started bowling well from there, then Helmot advised me to focus on bowling. Then I started focusing on bowling,’’ said Biplob adding that he is looking forward to showing his potential with the willow if the opportunity arises.

“I have not got any proper opportunity to bat. But whenever I get to play, I will try to play with the best of my ability [with the bat]. I have to be an all-rounder and so I am taking both bowling and batting with seriousness,’’ he said.

As Bangabandhu BPL had their second ‘day off’ in the 2019-20 edition, the tournament will resume tomorrow with the fixture between Khulna and Rangpur.
