Rangpur Rangers head coach Mark O’ Donnell said on Thursday that losing the opening game can be blessing in disguise as they have got the crack in the opening game of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday.
Rangpur Rangers earned a 105-run defeat in the opening against Cumilla Victorians to open their campaign in a disastrous manner.
‘’I think we got the crack in the opening game and it can good in a way as we know where we have to work on to progress further,’’ Mark O’Donnell told Cricfrenzy at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.
Cumilla Warriors captain Dasun Shanaka ignited the first day of Bangbandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) with a sublime batting show to script the memorable win for the Warriors.

Shanaka hammered a 31 ball-75 not out, smashing three fours and nine towering sixes and it proved to be the deciding factor in the game.
When Rangpur looked to restrict Cumilla to a low total was the time Shanaka came up with his ruthless best and especially in the last two overs, that eventually gave his side to a respectable total of 173-7.
‘’Probably it was decent wicket and we could not bowl according to the strength, according to the requirements,’’ said Mark.
‘’We probably had a decent time till the 16th and half overs. From that point of view, we just bowled on the area, hitting on his zone. And we just bowled to his strength,’’ he said.
Rangpur fumbled in batting too and finally was skittled out for paltry 68 in just 14 overs. It seemed Shanaka’s marauding batting put an adverse impact at least in psychologically.
Al-Amin Hossain then tore apart Rangpur batsmen to complement Shanaka’s effort.
Al-Amin Hossain claimed 3-14 while Soumya Sarkar and Sunjamul Islam bagged two wickets apiece to give the side a big victory in their opening game.
‘’When you lose four wickets in powerplay that is then you lose the game,’’ he concluded.
