Rangpur Rangers has roped in Afghanistan opener Mohammad Shahzad for the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) as part of their player in foreign quota.
Shahzad has been banned from international cricket by the Afghanistan cricket board for breaching the team's code of conduct during the 2019 world cup but he is eligible to play domestic T20 tournaments all around the world, Rangpur assistant coach Mizanur Rahman Babul revealed to Cricfrenzy.
Rangpur had to include Shahzad to the squad due to the unavailability of their West Indies opener Shai Hope who said he can only be available for one week of the tournament.

Shahzad is meanwhile a regular face in BPL and plays the shortest format very well. He also offers the wicket-keeping option to the Rangpur Rangers.
His ban, however, will be withdrawn from next August.
Shahzad will pair with young Bangladeshi opener Naim Sheikh to open the innings for Rangers.
