Fast bowler Khaled Ahmed who had suffered a career-threatening knee injury, now has been in the process to make a comeback. In an exclusive interview with the Cricfrenzy, the young gun shared his post-injury struggle, his rehab process, and future plans. Here are the excerpts.

Cricfrenzy: How are you feeling after taking a break from cricket?

Khaled Ahmed: I saw everybody practicing from the Academy building. I used to cry. I tried hard for playing and got injured without any reason. There can’t anything be bigger than this. I am feeling happy after running.

Cricfrenzy: When did you start running?

Khaled: I start running from the 27th last month and now in my third session.

Cricfrenzy: How did you feel after post-injury.

Khaled: I felt good. I have a session on the 5th of this month where I will try to run faster. I will try to run for 12 seconds to 15 seconds with high intensity.

Cricfrenzy: Have you done your Rehab program in the academy?

Khaled: I was in this building during the rehab process. I used to call my family members through mobile and did not go to my home. The Physio did not let you go outside when you are in the Rehab program.

Cricfrenzy: Why you have got no trainer during the Rehab?

Khaled: I was given a trainer on November 3. I used to do all the things alone before that. I used to practice in the morning and evening. I used to wake up at 8 AM and then started all of the works that I need to do. I used to do the gym alone. This rehab process is very tough when you are doing it alone. Doing five to six sets of practice is very tough. I used to feel bad about doing work alone. Then I used to think that I have to do these works for myself to get back to game. Sometimes it is such unbearable that I want to quit but again when I think I need to get back to the cricket, I feel the determination in me. That kept me running hard.

Cricfrenzy: How do you feel about the bad times?

Khaled: It was horrible. I have had the operation in June after which I was told not to get my foot on the ground. After 15 days I am allowed to get the foot down, with the help of a crutch.

Cricfrenzy: Will you play BPL?

Khaled: I may play in the BPL  from the Chattogram part.  I am feeling worried about my comeback as it can be too early since my rehab process is just completed I want to make a good come back. I do not want to rush my come back in a bid to prevent me from falling to injury again. I will bowl after one month, it will take one month to make my bowling perfect. If I get the opportunity then I will try to play in the BPL. If any team feels interested in me I can play for them. If I feel that my leg is not comfortable to play, then I won’t play. It is all about playing Test cricket. BPL is nothing to me. Basically I want to play Test cricket again.

Cricfrenzy: How are you maintaining your fitness?

Khaled: I am not eating rice for six months and even bread. I used to live with fruits and vegetables. Then I have oats in my food. I went to London in the middle there I had taken some rice.
