Tamim Iqbal, the interim ODI captain of Bangladesh who will lead the Tigers in the three-match series against Sri Lanka said that he wants to lead the side by example in a bid to create his own legacy.
Tamim has passed 12 years in the international arena for Bangladesh. In this time, he has established himself as the best opener of Bangladesh cricket. But he never led Bangladesh in an ODI match before. His only experience is in captaining the side in a Test match in New Zealand when Mushfiqur Rahim got injured.

He only got the chance to lead Bangladesh in this series because Captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza got hamstring injury and Vice-captain Shakib Al Hasan has taken leave. Tamim has welcomed this opportunity and said that he wants to lead Bangladesh in an exemplary fashion and set an example.
"Bangladesh Cricket Board has given me this responsibility. I have taken this as a challenge. It’s important to see, how my team responses to this. I want to lead my team in an exemplary fashion and want to set an example in leading the side," Tamim said at the time of practice on Monday.
Tamim is eager to see how all the things pan out. He also wants to contribute to his team with the bat. Tamim said he will calculate the performance of his captaincy and his batting at the end of this series.
"Of course, I want to perform. It’s a new challenge and I am eager to face this. I am sure I will enjoy this. And after the series we all will see what happens," added Tamim.
