Bangladesh Cricket Board decided to part ways with head coach Steve Rhodes as he failed to fulfill the expectation and not just because Tigers performed badly in the World Cup, said BCB official on Tuesday.

BCB announced on Monday that they are not continuing with Rhodes as both parties decided to separate on mutual consent.

In the Tigers’ dressing room and even BCB officials coming to England to watch the World Cup are displeased with Rhodes as they believed he was not appropriate for the hot seat.

The reason behind Rhodes’ losing the favour of BCB is because he appears to have very little control over the players, being a gentleman, a type of person whom BCB never liked in the past. The burning example was Shane Jurgensen who was alleged not to control player the way the BCB would like him to.

Under Rhodes’ guidance, Bangladesh won their first multinational trophy when they lifted the Tri-nation Series and also beat South Africa and West Indies in the ICC World Cup but BCB and the players thinks his contribution here was minimal,

But Tigers ended their World Cup campaign on a disappointing note winning only three matches and many believed it was the sole reason behind his unexpected departure.

However, BCB board director and Tigers manager in the World Cup campaign did not agree with it totally as he stated that he was not fulfilling the board expectations for quite some time.

The truth is, performance says so. Of course we had a dream. If you take this World cup into consideration, before the World Cup there were a lot of talking and its natural

Bangladesh was a very experienced side. One of the most experienced sides in this World Cup. For the five seniors of our team its fourth World Cup. We didn’t click at the time when it was required. After that, we had some tactical error too. Tactical errors will be there, but we realized that afterwards. There were some problems with the wickets too. Some times this happened. Ultimately I am not blaming anyone. I think, they have given their best shot. In every match, they were attacking, they tried to win every match.  But as I said, they luck wasn’t at our side. Like against Pakistan, we finished poorly and didn’t play good cricket at all,’’ he said.

‘’I don’t think Steve is sacked only because of this World cup. As he has been working here for a year. The board has gone to a settlement with him. Jalal bhai, the media committee chairman and the CEO have said that. May be his coaching wasn’t fulfilling board’s expectations.  This happened because of that cause,’’ he added.
