Chris Gayle is the vice-captain for the Windies in this World Cup

Universal boss Chris Gayle will deputize Jason Holder in this upcoming World Cup. The West Indies cricket board (CWI ) has declared his name in their website.
After receiving this news Gayle has told the reporters he knows what to do. He knows, he is the most experienced player in the squad right now and he will help young cricketers to acclimatize with the squad and the condition.
"It is always an honor to represent the West Indies in any format and this World Cup for me is special. As a senior player it is my responsibility to support the captain and everyone else in the team. This will probably be the biggest World Cup, so there will be great expectations and I know we will do very well for the people of the West Indies," said Gayle on the appointment.
Gayle has been playing for the windies for a long time now, he has played 289 ODI’s for them, scored 10,151 runs with 25 centuries and 51 half- centuries.
Gayle is currently palying in the IPL. In his absence West Indies has started brilliantly against Ireland in the Tri-Nation series. Openers Shai Hope and John Campbell put on a record opening stand, Hope has also been elevated to the position of vice-captain for the series.
"It's a tremendous honor to be appointed vice captain for this series here in Ireland. Ahead of this tournament I was asked to take on this role and I was happy to accept. Anything I'm asked to do for West Indies cricket I'm always happy and willing to put my hand up, so this is great," said Hope.
