Bangladesh spin-bowling coach Sunil Joshi labeled Shakib Al Hasan as the best ODI cricketer in world cricket following their win against West Indies in the ODI series-opener.
Returning from an injury that kept him out of action for more than two months, Shakib led Bangladesh to their first Test series-win this year. He also played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s victory in the first ODI against West Indies, giving his team an early breakthrough before scoring a 26-ball 30 to accelerate their successful run-chase.

“I think Shakib is not only our national honor or talent, you can say he is the best ODI cricketer in world cricket,” said Joshi.
Shakib, with his all-round package, has amassed over 10,000 international runs besides taking more than 500 international wickets, a feat only two cricketers – Jacques Kallis and Shahid Afridi – have achieved before.
“If you look at his qualities… I’m not talking about his numbers, I am looking at his qualities – as a bowler, as a fielder, as a batsman, he is tremendously talented and skillful. And for most of the skillful players is just takes a few sessions. They will be on time, they will be on button as well. So that’s what we have in Shakib. He brings in a lot of experience and a lot of technical and tactical ability around the team from which the team should be benefited.
