Afghanistan thrashed Zimbabwe 4-1 in a five-ODI series. Afghan spinner Rashid Khan went past the likes of Shakib Al Hasan, Sachin Tendulkar, and Saqlain Mushtaq to become the youngest player to top any of the ICC Player Rankings. He broke a 20-year old record to achieve the landmark.

In the recently-concluded series, Rashid took 16 wickets at a staggering average of 7.9. He also achieved another feat by bagging a total of 86 wickets in 37 ODIs. No other player has taken that many wickets in their first 37 ODIs.

Although Jasprit Bumrah has also jointly taken the no. 1 spot, Rashid’s reached the pinnacle of rankings at just 7092 days of age. Bangladesh spinner Shakib reached the top spot at 7976 days of age, whereas Saqlain Mushtaq and Sachin Tendulkar topped any of the ICC Player Rankings at the age of 7683 and 7878 days, respectively.
