The 23-year-old middle-order batter impressed in the 2026 West Indies Championship, scoring three consecutive centuries, including a career-best 153. He has six first-class centuries in 25 matches at an average above 40.
White-ball captain Shai Hope has been rested to manage his workload ahead of next year's ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier, while fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been withdrawn following medical consultations to reduce his injury risk in red-ball cricket.
All-rounder Keemo Paul replaces Joseph, and opener John Campbell returns after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Head coach Daren Sammy said the series offers West Indies an opportunity to improve their standing in the World Test Championship cycle.
“At the start of this World Test Championship cycle we set ourselves goals, and one of them was to finish in the top half of the rankings. Winning this series would move us closer to it. Playing Bangladesh in their own conditions will be challenging, and we’re ready for that,” Sammy said.
A series win could lift West Indies to sixth in the ICC Test rankings, having finished the 2023–25 cycle in eighth place.
The squad will arrive in Bangladesh on October 18 and play a three-day warm-up match in Dhaka from October 22 to 24.
