The Tigers last lifted a tri-series trophy in 2019, beating West Indies in the final in Ireland.
This time, the tournament offers not only an opportunity to end that wait but also valuable preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup.
Wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan expressed his expectations before the team's departure, saying Bangladesh have the ability to win the title if they perform collectively.
With two major ODI tournaments on the horizon, Sohan believes a strong showing in the UAE could also provide a significant confidence boost for the team.
“I think if we play as a team, we should reach the final and become champions. The Asia Cup is coming up, followed by the World Cup, so this is a good platform for us. If we can do well here, it will give us confidence,” Sohan said.
One of the notable additions to Bangladesh's squad for the tour is mystery spinner Aliss Al Islam, who has earned his maiden ODI call-up after consistent performances in domestic cricket.
Aliss could add variety to Bangladesh's spin attack in UAE conditions and pose a different challenge to opposition batters, making the series an important opportunity for him to prove himself at the international level.
Sohan welcomed Aliss's inclusion, pointing to the spinner's consistent performances and the value of having a mystery spinner in the squad.
“Aliss has been doing well for a long time, and his inclusion is certainly good for Bangladesh. Having a mystery spinner like him is an advantage. Even when we play abroad, I think every team has players who can bowl that kind of delivery,” he said.
Meanwhile, a significant portion of Bangladesh's squad are already in the UAE, where the team are currently playing a Test match against Afghanistan. The tri-nation ODI series will begin after the Test concludes.
Bangladesh will open their campaign against Zimbabwe on October 17 before facing Afghanistan on October 21.
