Shoriful, who missed the series opener with a side strain, has recovered and impressed in the nets. His pace, height and left-arm angle could add another dimension to Bangladesh’s attack.
However, Simmons stressed that he does not like to alter a winning combination.
“He offers something different, but again, we just won a Test match, so I am one who hardly likes to change winning XIs. So it is a possibility, but I can't really say until we sit down and decide what we want to do.”
Simmons praised the bowlers who featured in Darwin, saying their discipline and consistency were key to putting Australia under constant pressure.
“I'm impressed with all the bowlers because I think everybody bowled to what we spoke about. They are good batsmen, they’re world-class batsmen.”
“As long as we stick to what we've planned and make sure that they're under pressure all the time, that's what we ask for.”Simmons said the decision on Shoriful would only be made after the team management assesses its options.
Bangladesh will face Australia in the second Test in Mackay from August 22, with the visitors chasing their first Test series victory in the Southern Hemisphere.
