Alongside Tamim, India's Cheteshwar Pujara, Australia's Mel Jones, and New Zealand stars Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine were also named as Honorary Life Members by the MCC. Tamim received the honour at Lord's, where Bates, Devine and Jones were also present for the ceremony.
The recognition adds another milestone to the career of one of Bangladesh's greatest batters. Earlier this month, Tamim assumed office as the 18th president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, and the MCC honour acknowledges his outstanding contributions to international cricket.
Tamim enjoyed an illustrious international career spanning more than 15 years. He remains Bangladesh's highest run-scorer in ODIs with 8,357 runs from 243 matches and is the country's second-highest run-getter in Test cricket with 5,134 runs.
One of the defining moments of his career came at Lord's in 2010 when he scored a memorable Test century against England, earning a place on the iconic Lord's Honours Board. He was also named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2011 and received the Wisden Test Cricketer of the Year award.
Welcoming the new inductees, MCC Chief Executive and Secretary Rob Lawson praised the quintet for their lasting impact on the game.
"We are delighted to welcome these five outstanding cricketers as Honorary Life Members of MCC. Each of them richly deserves this recognition for their lifelong dedication and contribution to cricket. We look forward to welcoming them to Lord's as MCC members in the years ahead," Lawson said.
Founded in 1787, the Marylebone Cricket Club is the guardian of the Laws of Cricket and remains one of the sport's most prestigious institutions, with approximately 18,350 full members worldwide.
