Bangladesh have never won a global title, with their only multi-nation tournament success coming in the 2019 tri-series in Ireland. Mosaddek played a key role in that triumph, smashing an unbeaten 52 off just 27 balls in the final to guide Bangladesh to the title.
After four years away from the national setup, Mosaddek has forced his way back through strong domestic performances, particularly in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), where he has been one of the most consistent performers. He also won the Player of the Tournament award in the previous DPL season.
Now back in the squad, the 30-year-old all-rounder says he is focused on making the most of upcoming opportunities to secure his long-term place in the side and push for World Cup selection.
“I would be very happy if I can play in the 2027 World Cup. If I have to earn that place, then I need to perform well in the upcoming series. If I can do that, I can hope that the 2027 World Cup will be a golden opportunity waiting for me,” Mosaddek said.
“If you perform well, you come into the selectors’ good books. We don’t really have any other option besides that. I have been trying to stay consistent for as long as possible. I feel that after performing consistently, this opportunity has come, and I will definitely want to play for the national team for as long as my career lasts.”
Reflecting on his role in the team and competition for places, Mosaddek said, “I have already made it clear before that at one point we had three or four all-rounders playing together in the Bangladesh team. I was a bit disappointed about the situation, which is natural for anyone. Now that I have got this opportunity, I will try to repay the trust shown in me by the selectors and the people of Bangladesh.”
