Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim has been stuck in Jeddah after flights across parts of the Middle East were suspended amid escalating security tensions following Israel’s attack on Iran.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines temporarily halted operations to all destinations in the region due to the deteriorating situation. Several other international carriers have also suspended services.

Mushfiqur revealed in a Facebook post that he had travelled to Makkah a few days ago to perform Umrah.

After completing the Umrah, he was scheduled to return to Bangladesh via Dubai on Saturday.

However, despite boarding an Emirates flight (EK 0806) from Jeddah to Dubai, the aircraft was forced to turn back due to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

“Assalamualaikum all..I came to macca for the umrah hajj couple of days back…Alhamdulillah had finish my hajj and heading back to Bangladesh via Dubai ( emirates) today..we have flown this morning from jeddah to dubai via EK 0806 but unfortunately due to the war between USA , ISRAEL AND IRAN all the flight has return to Jeddah and now i am in jeddah airpot including thoushand of passengers…Only Almighty Allah knows when and how we will able to go to Dhaka along with other Bangladeshi people, Seeking prayers” Mushfiqur wrote in Facebook.

Due to the ongoing regional crisis, flights to and from Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Riyadh, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Kuwait have been suspended until further notice, according to multiple international media reports.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh said in a press release that the airspace of several Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Dubai and Qatar, has been temporarily closed following the developments.

As a result, schedules of numerous inbound and outbound flights have been disrupted.
