According to reports, Naim’s visa has not yet been approved, putting his participation in the first ODI in serious doubt.
Team manager Nafis Iqbal, currently with the Bangladesh squad in the UAE, confirmed to Cricfrenzy that they are still waiting for Naim’s visa approval.
“We haven’t received any update yet. The UAE visa system is fully automated, so you can’t manually track the process. Until it’s approved, neither Emirates nor immigration can do anything. Once it’s processed, we’ll get it immediately but as of now, it hasn’t arrived,” Nafis explained.
The UAE visa procedure is entirely online, meaning it’s difficult to predict when a visa will be issued. Naim remains on standby, ready to travel as soon as his visa comes through.
Bangladesh recently swept the T20I series 3–0 against Afghanistan. Most of those players are also part of the ODI squad, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana, and Najmul Hossain Shanto joining the team in the UAE.
The ODI squad also includes a few changes, Saif Hassan has received his maiden ODI call-up, while Nurul Hasan Sohan has returned to the 50-over setup after featuring in the T20Is. Both players will be eager to make the most of their opportunities.
