According to a reliable Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source, Litton will need at least one and a half to two weeks to recover fully.
Litton sustained the injury during practice on September 22, ahead of the India clash in the Asia Cup. Although the team management initially described it as a minor issue, it turned out to be more serious, ruling him out of consecutive games against India and Pakistan. ‘
The medical team did not clear him to play, and the same concern keeps him sidelined for the Afghanistan series.
A BCB insider told Cricfrenzy, “Litton is still under observation. This kind of injury usually takes one and a half to two weeks to heal. It’s unlikely he will be fully fit before the series. He may miss the first two matches, and even for the last one, it’s hard to say if he’ll recover in time.”
In Litton’s absence, Jaker Ali Anik could continue leading the side, having already captained against India and Pakistan. Squad changes are also possible, with reports suggesting Soumya Sarkar, who recently scored a half-century for Khulna in the NCL T20, may be recalled.
Bangladesh are set to announce their squads for the T20Is and ODIs today.
Players like Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto, currently playing in the NCL T20, will depart for the UAE in the coming days. The T20Is will take place on October 2, 3, and 5 in Sharjah, followed by ODIs on October 8, 11, and 14 in Abu Dhabi.
