Bangladesh will face Ireland in a two-match Test series in November. The first Test is scheduled to begin on 11 November in Sylhet, followed by the second Test from 19 November, which will mark Mushfiqur’s milestone appearance.
The fixture was finalized after Ireland’s cricket board gave its approval, earlier reports had suggested Ireland preferred to replace the second Test with an ODI series.
Currently sitting on 98 Test appearances, Mushfiqur is set to become the first Bangladeshi cricketer to reach the century mark. He made his debut in 2005 at Lord’s, aged just 18, becoming the second-youngest cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar to play a Test at the historic venue.
The wicketkeeper-batter remains Bangladesh’s leading run-scorer in the format, being the only one to surpass 6,000 runs in Tests. His unbeaten 219 against Zimbabwe in 2020 is still the highest individual Test score by a Bangladeshi player.
Following the two Tests, Bangladesh and Ireland will play a three-match T20I series, with games scheduled on 27 and 29 November in Chattogram and 2 December in Dhaka.
Before that, Bangladesh will host the West Indies in October for a six-match white-ball series; three ODIs on 18, 20 and 23 October, followed by three T20Is on 27 and 30 October, and 1 November.
The domestic Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will then take place during December and January, when the national team has no international commitments.
